Fluoride Most often children and adolescents receive fluoride treatments. However, if you are any person has a tendency toward high degree tooth decay, it is a good idea to have the treatment as well. This treatment is done at your regular check up. Fluoride is usually placed in trays and placed in the mouth for several minutes. Then the trays are taken out and you are instructed to wait approximately 30 minutes before eating or drinking. Another use for fluoride treatments are exposed roots which can often be very sensitive. Usually, the fluoride varnish is painted on the tooth with a brush.
